Sugar Cookies

Blend together – ½ cup softened shortening ( half margarine, half butter)
¾ cup sugar
1 egg
Stir in 1 tsp vanilla
Sift together and then stir in – 1/1/2 cups sifted flour
¼ tsp baking powder
¼ tsp salt

Chill dough thoroughly and roll out on well floured surface about 1/8 inch thick. Cut into shapes and place on lightly greased baking sheet. Sprinkle with sugar. Bake at 425 for 5-7 minutes, until just turning brown on the edges. Makes about 3-4 dozen.
